Hypnosis Session - In Person/Distance

Hypnosis is a state of altered consciousness involving focused attention by the subject, with a reduced peripheral awareness that allows suggestions by a person to be easily accepted. Hypnosis is used for modification of behavior as well as recovering suppressed memories. During hypnosis, the subject is guided to relax, then the hypnotist introduces suggestive phrases and positive affirmations to meet the client's goals.

FAQs

WILL THE HYPNOTIST BE CONTROLLING ME AND WILL I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARDS?

There are myths surrounding hypnosis such as the belief that a person will be controlled and not remember what happened during the session. This simply is not true. During hypnosis the subject is always in control and capable of remembering everything and some will not remember much of the session. This will depend on the state of consciousness as the subject naturally moves back and forth between the 4 types. It is ok if there is no recollection of the session because all that is necessary for hypnosis to be successful is an Alpha state and in this state, a person is up to 200 times more suggestible.

WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP?

Another myth to dispel is that when a subject falls asleep during hypnosis, it will not be effective. This is also not true as a part of the brain located in the frontal lobe processes sound, therefore hypnosis will be effective during sleep. Through research, scientists have found that when measuring brain activity during sleep, the brain is active when hearing sounds. Think back to a time you woke because of rain outside or a bump in the night. You heard this during your sleep, otherwise, how would you have known to wake up. A camper will not wake to a cricket chirping in the night, however, the brain will send a response to awaken the camper upon the growl of a bear. A hypnosis client may sleep through the entire session because they are comfortable and trust the hypnotist and all the while, the subconscious mind will continue to process suggestions.

WHAT IF I DON'T BELIEVE I CAN BE HYPNOTIZED?

While hypnosis is an excellent option to improve upon many facets of life using positive affirmations and suggestions, there is a small percentage of people that it will not work for. Fortunately 5 – 10% of the population is highly susceptible to hypnotic suggestions, meaning some of these people could be hypnotized before surgery and not need anesthesia to prevent pain. Another 60 – 79% of people are moderately susceptible and the remaining 25 – 30% are minimally susceptible.

WHAT IF I DON'T WAKE UP?

There is no need to fear not waking up. This is not possible. This doesn’t even happen in the small percentage of people that fall into the deepest state of Delta consciousness, and do not remember the session unless the hypnotist suggests they will. Most clients achieve the Alpha state which is the lightest state of consciousness and they are awake, and aware of what is going on, yet relaxed and focused.

WHICH CELEBRITIES HAVE USED HYPNOSIS?

Today, hypnosis is used by people from all walks of life, including professional athletes like Tiger Woods who uses hypnosis to quiet his mind, release any anxiety, and become 100% focused during his golf game. Actor, Director, Producer and Musician, Kevin Costner battled sea-sickness during the filming of his box office hit, “Water World” and flew his private hypnotherapist to Hawaii to successfully overcome his phobia. Model, Sophie Dahl was a plus sized model that lost weight with hypnosis and has kept it off 10 years wearing a size 8. Singer, Lily Allen of the UK also lost weight along with 3 dress sizes as did Geri Halliwell, singer and former member of the Spice Girls. Celebrities have also used hypnosis to stop smoking, including Ashton Kutcher, Samuel L. Jackson, Katy Perry, and Matt Damon to name a few. Even the beloved Jackie Kennedy turned to hypnosis after the tragic death of her husband. There are so many other uses for hypnosis such as relieving stress, anxiety, depression, fear of public speaking, weight loss, building confidence, motivation and more.
